'Lightning' Pete GiffaToy Town Mayor Campaign Announcement

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about politics in the UK and USA, about populism, history, power and the people who seek it, about leaders who are abusers and bullies, the constant social media stream of conflict and disinformation, a celebrity and ‘reality tv’ driven culture and the effect just existing in this world must be having on people’s wellbeing and mental health.

All the people and schools I've been privileged to work with will know I’ve been a speaker on Anti-Bullying for a long time but I’ve been thinking about how I can respond creatively to these subjects and have a positive impact and how I do that in a way that would be engaging and informative for the audience in the room and fulfilling for me as a speaker. 

I love writing and performing character comedy, satire, parody and music and wanted to combine these elements to tell a new story about Social Media, Teenagers, Toxic Masculinity, Identity and 'Influencer' culture.

My new presentation is called – ‘ALL HAIL ‘LIGHTNING’ PETE GIFFA’ after one of the character’s it features. 

As the short video I’ve made shows -‘Lightning’ Pete Giffa is an ex-bouncer from the 1980’s turned author and reality TV star who aims to monetise his celebrity to enter local Government and run for Mayor of Toy Town, the fictional UK town in which he lives.
